Some Beliefs That Define Waco Family Baptist Church

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the Word of God without error, mistake, or contradiction.  We believe that the Bible is sufficient for life as the rule and authority in all matters.  Our constant quest is that our lives will be molded to fit the form of scripture.  We believe that the Bible is the revelation of God to man in written form.

Jesus Christ
We believe the God of the Bible exists in three distinct, equal, co-existant persons and is One God.  We believe that this is not fully comprehensible, it is clearly taught in scripture.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the revelation of God to man in human form.

Man
We believe that man is created in the image of God, but because man sinned he is cursed to death and eternal separation from God in Hell.  We believe that man can have peace with God only through Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross whereby He paid the penalty for man’s sin.

Salvation
We believe that peace with God, or salvation, comes through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.  Repentance is turning from one’s sinful life and pursuits to Jesus Christ  as King and authority.  Faith is trusting in Jesus’ death as payment for ones sin, and in Jesus’ bodily resurrection from the dead as one’s hope for eternal life.

Baptism
We believe that baptism is not an element of salvation, but is a symbolic act of obedience after salvation. We hold believer's baptism by emersion as a requirement for all membership priviledges.

Expository Preaching Ministry
We believe that the Bible should be studied in larger contiguous segments and whole books to insure that the context is understood and heeded.  We believe that verse by verse preaching and teaching of the Bible in this manner will help us to more completely understand what God says, what God’s Word means, and how God’s Word is to be applied to our daily lives.

Family Integration
A Family Integrated Church ministers to the whole family and does not separate families into age graded or gender groups.  WFBC is transitioning to the FIC model.  We are making strides toward working together, fellowshiping together, and  worshipping together.  WFBC is transitioning because our families are transitioning.  As our children learn to come to church and worship with their families, we welcome you to bring your children as well.  We believe children are a blessing from God, not an interruption or embarrassment.

Statements of Faith
WFBC affirms the Baptist Faith & Message of 2000 and the London Baptist Confession of 1689
.

WFBC is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, and the Southern Baptists of Central Texas Association.
